Borislava Dimova serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Cinema, Advertising and Show Business at New Bulgarian University (NBU), teaching core courses including TV Directing (Parts 1-4), Working in a TV Studio Complex, and project-based seminars for documentaries and feature films.
Her educational foundation includes dual graduation in Film and Television Directing and Film Dramaturgy from NBU, culminating in her 2022 dissertation The University Television of NBU between experience and innovation. Professionally, she bridges academia and industry through extensive media experience.
Prof. Dimova's research centers on practical film/television methodologies, with emphasis on directing techniques, screenwriting, documentary production, and advertising. She pioneered curriculum integration of real-world production environments at NBU's RTC facility, where students create TV shows, music videos, and commercials simulating professional broadcast conditions. Her work uniquely connects academic theory with industry practice in Eastern European media contexts.
Her career spans leadership roles including Chief Director of Balkan Bulgarian Television (2008-2009), creative development for Bulgarian National Television programs, and screenwriting for children's television (2009-2011). Since 2013, she has progressively developed NBU's television directing curriculum from part-time lecturer to full-time faculty, while also teaching directing and on-camera performance at Sofia University's Faculty of Film and Television.
