Borislav Malinovic is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology within the Faculty of Technology at the University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His academic appointment dates back to September 25, 2019, when he was elected as an Associate Professor in Electrochemical Engineering.
Professor Malinovic's research focuses on electrochemical engineering applications for environmental protection, with particular expertise in wastewater treatment technologies. His work spans electrocoagulation, electrooxidation, and advanced oxidation processes for removing contaminants from industrial and municipal wastewater. He has conducted extensive research on textile industry wastewater treatment, cyanide-containing effluents, heavy metals like chromium, and emerging pollutants. Additionally, his research encompasses corrosion science and protection in industrial cooling systems and metal processing applications, as well as the development of electrochemical sensors using modified carbon electrodes with TiO2 nanoparticles for environmental monitoring.
An analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward addressing contemporary environmental challenges through electrochemical methods. His work demonstrates increasing focus on emerging contaminants, sustainable wastewater treatment approaches that align with circular economy principles, and the integration of renewable energy sources with electrochemical processes. The interdisciplinary nature of his research bridges chemical engineering, materials science, and environmental protection, with practical applications across multiple industrial sectors.
Professor Malinovic is actively involved in multiple research projects addressing critical environmental issues in the Balkan region. His leadership extends to projects focusing on advanced water treatment technologies, waste-to-energy conversion, and sustainable management of industrial effluents. These projects often involve collaboration with researchers from the University of Banja Luka and international partners, demonstrating his commitment to advancing environmental engineering solutions through collaborative research.
