Boris Tefsen

Dr. Boris Tefsen is a Lecturer in Molecular Microbiology at Utrecht University's Faculty of Science, where he has been employed since 2022. He actively contributes to educational leadership as Chair of the Biology Education Advisory Committee (2025-present), Member of the UGS Education Committee, and Program Coordinator for the Science & Business Management Master. Tefsen also serves as a Board Member of the Royal Dutch Society for Microbiology with an education portfolio.

His research spans antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, and environmental microbiology, with particular expertise in harmful algal blooms and environmental toxicology. Tefsen's work bridges fundamental laboratory research with clinical applications and environmental policy implications. His multidisciplinary approach integrates molecular microbiology with environmental science to address pressing issues in public health and ecosystem management.
