Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Researchمعرفی
Prof. Dr. Boris Peter Koch is a Chemical Oceanographer and Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, affiliated with the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI). He holds deputy roles as Deputy Head of the Division Biosciences and Deputy Head of the Section Ecological Chemistry. His research focuses on marine organic carbon fluxes, chemical characterization of dissolved organic matter (DOM), and advanced analytical techniques like Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS).
Key research interests include chemometrics, biogeochemical processes, and the application of FT-ICR-MS for molecular-level analysis of marine DOM. He is involved in projects related to the biological carbon pump, species interactions, and chemical ecology.
Prof. Koch has received the Heinrich Award for his contributions to paleoclimate dynamics research. His work integrates field observations, laboratory analysis, and computational methods to advance understanding of marine biogeochemistry.
