Boris Minkov

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boris Minkov is a faculty member at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) Krastyo Sarafov in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he has served since 2013. He holds a position in the Department of World Culture within the Faculty of Screen Arts. Born in 1971, Minkov graduated from the German Language High School in Plovdiv (1990) and earned a degree in Bulgarian Philology from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (1995). His academic career includes roles as a doctoral student and research associate at the Institute of Literature (BAS) from 1998 to 2009, followed by a lecturer position at Humboldt University, Berlin (2009–2013). He has also taught at Sofia University, Paisii Hilendarski University, AMTII Prof. Assen Diamandiev Plovdiv, and Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

His research focuses on literary genre typology, German literature, urban space in literature, intermedial connections between literature and cinema, and contemporary literature. He has conducted research at the University of Vienna, University of Konstanz, Free University of Berlin, and the German Literary Archive in Marbach. Beyond academia, Minkov is a literary critic, fiction author, and textbook writer for Anubis Publishing House. Since 1998, he has edited and published the literary magazine Strania.
