Boris A. Khesin is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Arts and Science, specializing in Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Poisson Geometry, and Hydrodynamics.
- Ph.D. from Moscow State University (1990), M.Sc. from Moscow State University (1986)
- Supervised by Vladimir Arnold
His research focuses on geometric and topological methods in fluid dynamics, infinite-dimensional Lie groups, and integrable systems. Current teaching includes courses on Calculus, Hamiltonian Mechanics, and Lie Groups applied to Hamiltonian PDEs.
- Recent publications address curvatures of diffeomorphism groups, helicity in 3D hydrodynamics, and geometric aspects of optimal transport
- Collaborations span institutions like Princeton, Yale, UC Berkeley, and the Simons Center
He was awarded the Aisenstadt Prize in 1997 and maintains active roles in mathematical education and international research networks.
