Dr. Bonnie R. Kraemer serves as Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Special Education at San Diego State University, where she has been faculty since 2005. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D), she directs critical research and training initiatives focused on severe disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.

Her research program centers on evidence-based interventions for individuals with severe intellectual disabilities and autism, emphasizing family collaboration, instructional efficacy, transition planning, and quality-of-life measurement through applied behavior analysis frameworks. This work directly informs her leadership of SDSU's credential program in extensive support needs.
Grant Leadership: Dr. Kraemer directs multiple federally funded initiatives including current OSEP personnel preparation grants and the landmark IES-funded CSESA study - the largest national research project (n>500) examining comprehensive educational programs for high school students with ASD. These projects establish SDSU as a national hub for autism and transition research.
Through her dual roles as researcher and program coordinator, she mentors master's students and credential candidates in implementing evidence-based practices, with particular focus on cross-training special educators and school psychologists to address behavioral and mental health needs in school settings.
