معرفی
Boe Burrus, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management within the College of Arts and Sciences at Gonzaga University. He teaches core physiology and science-based courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and Exercise Prescription, contributing significantly to the Kinesiology major.
His research focuses on endurance sports performance, particularly cycling, with emphasis on physiological assessment, ergogenic aids, and recovery strategies. Key areas include critical power modeling, supplementation (e.g., wild blueberries, L-carnitine), and biomechanical factors like crank arm length. His work bridges laboratory research with practical application in athletic performance.
Dr. Burrus’s recent publications highlight trends in fat oxidation, performance feedback during time trials, and optimization of cycling and running mechanics. His research often involves student collaborators and is frequently presented at national conferences such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
- Best Undergraduate Presentation Award, School of Education Diversity and Social Justice Conference (2024)
He has successfully advised multiple student researchers and secured competitive grants for projects on wild blueberry supplementation and cycling biomechanics. His lab integrates metabolic testing, performance assessment, and nutritional interventions, often involving student-led investigations. Dr. Burrus remains an active and integral member of both the academic and research communities in exercise science.
