Bob Sumner is Director of Research at The Walt Disney Studios, Associate Lab Director of DisneyResearch|Studios, and an Adjunct Professor at ETH Zurich. At Disney, he leads research in animation and games to overcome technical barriers in production pipelines with novel algorithms.

His research focuses on advancing animation and game technology through algorithms that enhance creative tools for depiction, movement, deformation, and efficiency. At ETH Zurich, he founded the Game Technology Center in 2015 and teaches the Game Programming Laboratory course, fostering collaboration between ETH and Zurich University of the Arts students to develop innovative video games.
Labs and teams include DisneyResearch|Studios and the ETH Game Technology Center, which bridges research, teaching, and outreach in game technology.
