Boada Oliveras, Immaculada

Immaculada Boada Oliveras is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Girona (UdG), where she is also affiliated with the Institute of Computing and Applications and the Graphics and Image Laboratory Research Group (GILab). She serves as the Director of the Institute of Computer Science and Applications (2012–2016, 2020–present), demonstrating sustained leadership in academic and research administration.

Her research is centered on visualization and image processing techniques with applications in medicine and industry, online training systems, and the design of serious games. These interests are deeply applied, focusing on real-world impact through technology transfer and innovation.

She has led significant projects such as the development of the Starviewer radiological viewer, used widely across Catalan hospitals and compliant with medical device standards (CE under MDD, ISO13485, and transitioning to MDR). She is a founding partner of Paidia Technologies, a spin-off specializing in serious games, and was part of the team behind the award-winning ACME e-learning platform.

Her scientific recognition includes:

She has supervised 10 doctoral theses, reflecting her active role in academic mentoring and research training.
