BoKyung Park is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. She holds a PhD in Affective Science from Stanford University (2017), and MA (2012) and BA (2009) in Psychology from Seoul National University. Her research focuses on cultural influences on moral judgment, social cognition, and theory-of-mind (ToM), with a particular interest in the neural mechanisms underlying these processes.
Her work examines how cultural background shapes moral character evaluations, ingroup bias impacts well-being, and how cultural context modulates ToM and empathetic responses. She leads the SPRING Lab (Social Psychology Research on INtercultural Groups), investigating cross-cultural differences in moral psychology and social decision-making. Notably, she has published on topics like culturally valued facial expressions influencing loan success, neural correlates of biased impression updating, and cultural variation in reward processing.
Dr. Park is currently accepting PhD students but not undergraduate researchers. Her research has been featured in journals like Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, Emotion, and Trends in Cognitive Sciences, reflecting her expertise in cultural neuroscience and social psychology.
