Blessing Ojembe is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba, holding a PhD in Social Gerontology from McMaster University. As a Commonwealth scholar and registered social worker, she specializes in aging experiences of Black older adults.
Her research examines loneliness, social exclusion, and unmet needs among Canadian-born and immigrant Black seniors using qualitative and community-based approaches. She co-founded the Emerging Researchers and Professionals on Aging – African Network (ERPAAN) and maintains research collaborations across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Recent publications critically analyze social isolation mechanisms, gerontechnology applications, and transnational aging experiences. She teaches critical perspectives in social work, qualitative methods, and gerontological practice at undergraduate and graduate levels.
