Blanda Matzenbacher is a researcher at the Department of Geological Sciences, Stockholm University, focusing on paleoclimate changes in Arctic marginal regions. She is affiliated with IGV's Marine Geology group, which studies ocean geology and history through marine sediment archives and submarine landforms.
Her research investigates environmental changes and coastal erosion in the Beaufort Sea (Canada) and Victoria Fjord (NW Greenland), with a focus on organic matter transport from the MacKenzie River and glacier dynamics. Fieldwork includes retrieving coastal sediment cores via UWITEC piston corer in Tuktoyaktuk, Canada, and participation in the 6-week GEOEO cruise (August-September 2024). Analytical techniques involve biomarker analysis, hyperspectral core imaging, CT-scanning, and XRF analyses.
Blanda actively engages with political initiatives addressing climate change, advocates for low-carbon lifestyles, and supports gender equality in STEM. Contact: blanda.matzenbacher@geo.su.se. Physical address: Geohuset, Svante Arrheniusväg 8 C, 106 91 Stockholm, Sweden.
