Dr. Blagoja Janakov serves as a Full Professor at the Institute of Psychology within the Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, where he has held appointments since 1989 across the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Fine Arts, and Music. His academic journey began with a Psychology degree from the University of Belgrade (1977), followed by Master's (1986) and Doctoral (1991) studies, complemented by a four-year Gestalt therapy certification and international workshops with prominent psychologists.
His research synthesizes anthropology, personology, and psychotherapy, focusing on holistic personality development through integrative frameworks blending Jungian dream analysis, Gestalt techniques, and cultural anthropology. Key contributions include establishing personology as a distinct discipline examining the self within socio-historical contexts, with emphasis on self-actualization and cross-cultural well-being metrics.
His publication trajectory reveals evolving expertise from foundational consciousness studies (1988) to contemporary personology systems (2018), consistently bridging clinical practice with theoretical innovation in personality assessment and therapeutic interventions across Balkan and European contexts.
Prof. Janakov pioneered the Personality and Counseling graduate major, teaching core courses for 25+ years while leading 15+ years of experiential personal development groups. His leadership extends to symposia chairing at World Congresses of Psychology and directing the 2004 European Psychotherapy Congress workshop on Jungian dream interpretation.
