As a registered nurse with specialization in psychiatric care and additional training in diabetes care, his professional experience spans inpatient and acute psychiatric care, psychiatric clinics, mobile teams, municipal health care, LSS, and primary care. He is an active member of the research group Well-being in Long-Term Health Problems (WeLHP).
His primary research focuses on age suit simulation as an educational methodology for nursing students, allowing them to experience age-related health limitations firsthand. This embodied learning approach fosters deeper understanding and empathy toward elderly patients. His work at Skaraborg Health Technology Center examines how simulation affects students' perspectives on aging, older people, and geriatric care.
Björn leads the ongoing project 'Simulation in age-suit in Skaraborg Health Technology Center' (February 2022 - August 2025), which investigates how educational interventions with age suit simulation influence understanding of aging and elderly care. The project also conducts longitudinal analysis of nursing students' evolving perspectives.
His research bridges nursing education, gerontology, and health technology, with practical implications for improving nursing curricula and enhancing the quality of care provided to elderly patients through more empathetic and informed future healthcare professionals.
