Dr. Bingjiang Lyu is a Research Associate at the Centre for Speech, Language, and the Brain (CSLB) within the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on brain network dynamics during language comprehension, utilizing electromagnetic (MEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques to investigate real-time neural processing of speech and contextual information.
Dr. Lyu completed his Ph.D. at Peking University in 2017, with doctoral research centered on predictive brain mechanisms and reconfiguration of large-scale brain networks underlying language processing.
His primary research interests include:
- Cognitive Neuroscience
- Neurolinguistics
- Speech Processing
- Brain Imaging (fMRI and MEG)
- Language Comprehension
Dr. Lyu's current work examines how contextual information embedded in sentences modulates incremental speech processing, revealing the spatiotemporal organization of language networks in the brain through advanced neuroimaging methodologies.
His recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate expertise in developing and applying optically pumped magnetometer MEG (OPM-MEG) technology, including novel hardware systems, deep learning-based signal processing, and multimodal neuroimaging integration. His research spans language processing, face perception, emotion recognition, and large-scale brain mapping initiatives like the Chinese Human Connectome Project, highlighting both methodological innovation and cross-cultural applications.
Dr. Lyu is affiliated with the Centre for Speech, Language, and the Brain (CSLB), a multidisciplinary research hub at the University of Cambridge that integrates psychology, neuroscience, and linguistics using state-of-the-art MEG and fMRI facilities to investigate the neural basis of speech, language, and cognitive functions.
