Associate Professor Bingfeng Zhang is affiliated with the China University of Petroleum (East China). He is currently a visiting fellow at the University of Surrey’s Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), hosted by Professor Wenwu Wang. His primary role involves advancing computer vision and AI methodologies through collaborative academic initiatives.
Research interests focus on object segmentation in real-world scenarios and developing adaptive multimodal frameworks that integrate images, text, and sound to enhance system performance across diverse object classes. This work addresses critical limitations in current AI systems, particularly their struggle with untrained or novel object categories.
During his two-month fellowship at Surrey, he aims to establish a research network between the two institutions and organize a joint seminar on computer vision and AI. No formal awards or grants are explicitly listed, but his fellowship reflects ongoing scholarly engagement. He has no listed advisees or students.
Collaborative efforts include partnerships with the CVSSP team at the University of Surrey, emphasizing interdisciplinary research and knowledge-sharing in AI-driven visual systems.
