Prof. Dr. Bing Zhu is a Professor of Real Estate Development at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Professorship for Real Estate Development within the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Her research focuses on real estate finance, sustainable real estate, commercial real estate dynamics, and monetary policy impacts. She holds a PhD from EBS University of Business and Law (2011) and a habilitation from the University of Regensburg (2018). Before joining TUM in 2019, she lectured at the Universities of Regensburg, Cambridge, and Reading.
Her academic roles include editorial board memberships for the Journal of European Real Estate Research and the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, as well as leadership positions in organizations like the European Commercial Real Estate Data Alliance. Key research areas include real estate as an inflation hedge, ESG factors in real estate equities, and spatial linkages in housing markets.
Zhu’s awards include the 2022 American Real Estate and Urban Economic Association Best Paper Award and the 2021 GSSI Gold Award. Her recent work explores global real estate market interdependencies, urban spatial dynamics, and the economic impacts of ESG criteria. She advises on projects related to digitalization in construction and sustainable real estate valuation.
