Bilge İmamoğlu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at TED University's Faculty of Architecture and Design, where he also serves as Vice Director of the Graduate School. His academic career spans teaching and research since the early 2000s across architectural design, history, and cultural studies.
His educational background includes:
- B.Arch in Architecture from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2000
- M.A. in History of Architecture from METU in 2003 with thesis on Zonguldak coal field workers' houses
- Ph.D. in Architecture from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in 2010 focusing on architectural professionalization in Turkey
Dr. İmamoğlu's research centers on modern architecture and urbanism, with specific expertise in 20th century Turkish architecture, the evolution of architectural practice in Turkey, and conservation methodologies for modern architectural heritage. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary preservation challenges, examining how modernist principles shaped Turkey's built environment during the Republican era.
He has supervised master's theses and participated in four research projects. His teaching portfolio demonstrates exceptional range, covering first-year design fundamentals through advanced studios, history courses spanning Architecture I/II, specialized seminars on Modern Architecture in Turkey, and graduate-level cultural studies research.
