Bijou Karman

Bijou Karman is a Los Angeles-based artist, illustrator, and lecturer at Otis College of Art and Design. Her work merges vintage aesthetics with themes of feminism and cultural inclusivity, often featuring bold colors, clashing patterns, and stylized depictions of inspiring women, tropical plants, and psychedelic motifs. She collaborates with clients such as Nike, Apple, The New Yorker, and Rihanna.

• Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Art Center College of Design.

Research & Practice: Karman’s practice spans editorial illustrations, book art, advertising, and original gouache paintings centered on fashion. Her notable collaboration with photographer David Lekach, 300 Polaroids, explores American youth culture through mixed-media transformations of Lekach’s photographs with acrylic paint.

Recognition: Featured in Vanity Fair, W Magazine, and The New York Times, Karman’s work has gained prominence through high-profile campaigns, including Rihanna’s Stance Socks collaborations.

Representation: Currently represented by She Likes Cutie, with clients including Google, Christian Dior, and Planned Parenthood.
