Dr. Bidyut Baruah is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Management at the University of York's School of Physics, Engineering and Technology. He leads the MSc Engineering Management programme, teaching modules in entrepreneurship, marketing, innovation management, and research methods. With a PhD from the University of York (2015) and an MSc (Distinction, 2011) and B.Tech from NERIST, India, his research focuses on entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, leadership, and qualitative research in engineering education.
His research explores topics such as gender inclusivity in engineering, pandemic impacts on SMEs, and innovation strategies in high-tech industries. He is actively involved in outreach initiatives like the IET Faraday Challenge. Over 15 key publications address entrepreneurship education, risk management in SMEs, and the application of AI (e.g., ChatGPT) in higher education. His work bridges engineering education with organizational management practices, emphasizing practical tools like game-based simulations and peer assessment methods.
Dr. Baruah’s contributions span curricula design informed by job market trends and ethical decision-making frameworks for engineering students. He advocates for fostering intrapreneurial skills among engineers and promoting gender diversity in STEM careers.
