Dr. Beyza Şat is an Associate Professor in the Landscape Architecture Department at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of Özyeğin University. She holds a B.Sc. (1999), M.Sc. (2002), and Ph.D. (2009) in Landscape Architecture from Istanbul University. With over 20 years of academic experience, she pioneered the Landscape Architecture Department at Trakya University’s Faculty of Architecture and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Toledo (USA) in 2014. Her research focuses on ecological planning, landscape analysis, and conservation strategies, with notable contributions to urban resilience, biophilic design, and plant-based sustainability solutions.
Dr. Şat is an associate editor of Ecological Processes (Springer) since 2017 and actively contributes to professional organizations like TMMOB and IALE. Her work bridges ecological science with urban design, emphasizing participatory planning and interdisciplinary approaches. Recent research highlights include bioswale functionality in urban resilience, sustainability challenges in Asian drylands, and the pedagogical impact of active learning in design studios.
Professional affiliations and awards include board memberships in key landscape architecture institutions and international festival recognitions for folk dance performances (Poland 1993, Spain 1994).
