Beverly Rothermel

Beverly Rothermel, Ph.D., is a tenured Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center with primary appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine (Division of Cardiology) and secondary appointment in Molecular Biology. She co-directs training and scientific cores at the Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Cooperative Research Center. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of cardiac development, stress responses, and disease pathogenesis.

Her work spans molecular cardiology, stress adaptation mechanisms, and regenerative processes, with emphasis on calcineurin signaling, FoxO transcription factors, and ER-mitochondrial crosstalk in cardiac hypertrophy and failure.

Publication Trends: Her 66+ publications demonstrate consistent focus on cardiac stress responses (2011-2014), particularly autophagy regulation, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and signaling pathways like calcineurin/NFAT.
