Beverly J. Evans is a Distinguished Teaching Professor of French at SUNY Geneseo and Chair of the Global Languages and Cultures Department. She has been a faculty member since 1985, specializing in medieval French poetry and music, WWI literature, 20th-century French literature, and Quebec cultural studies.

Evans’s research explores medieval French poetry and music, focusing on gender dynamics in courtly traditions and the legacy of women troubadours. She also examines WWI-era French songs and their role in shaping national identity, alongside postcolonial and Quebecois cultural narratives.
Her recent publications span analyses of medieval serial thought, interwar French music, and Quebecois theater. These works reflect her interest in bridging historical contexts with contemporary cultural debates, particularly through interdisciplinary approaches.
Evans is actively involved in academic service as Executive Director of Pi Delta Phi (National French Honor Society) and as a member of Women in French, the International Courtly Literature Society, and the American Association of Teachers of French.
