Beverley Argus-Calvo serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Counseling, Special Education, and Educational Psychology Department within the College of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. With a career spanning since 1983, she has extensive experience as a teacher for learning disabled students and educational diagnostician in New Mexico (1997-1999), alongside binational work with children with special needs across U.S.-Mexico border communities.
Her research expertise centers on Bilingual Special Education and Culturally Responsive Special Education, with critical investigations into violence impacts on student learning and innovative music/arts programs for underserved elementary populations. She emphasizes family collaboration for culturally diverse students with special needs and binational educational frameworks.
