Betsy Stoner is an Assistant Professor in the Natural and Applied Sciences department at Bentley University. She holds a Ph.D. from Florida International University and a B.S. from Skidmore College. Her office is located in Jennison Hall, Room 108.
Betsy's teaching focuses on Environmental Science and Sustainability, Oceanography, and field-intensive courses like Shore to Sea: Ecosystem Services in the Caribbean and Biology of Cape Cod. She integrates active research into her pedagogy, emphasizing hands-on discovery.
Her research explores human impacts on marine ecosystems, particularly nutrient pollution's effects on benthic species interactions and jellyfish blooms in Caribbean environments. She also investigates STEM education, promoting underrepresented student participation and science literacy through inquiry-based methods.
