Beth Krizek is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying floral organogenesis in Arabidopsis thaliana, particularly the role of AINTEGUMENTA-LIKE (AIL) transcription factors in regulating organ initiation, identity specification, growth, and patterning. She investigates how gene regulatory networks coordinate cellular behaviors and morphological changes during flower development. Dr. Krizek's work bridges plant stem cell biology and developmental biology.
Her laboratory studies early developmental processes such as floral organ positioning within primordia and later-stage cellular integration for organ morphology. She employs molecular genetic approaches to uncover gene functions in this model organism. Her office is located in Room 716 of the PSC building, and she can be contacted via krizek@sc.edu.
