Dr. Beth Chatham is an Associate Professor of Nursing and Director of Nursing Programs at Cumberland University, leading the Jeanette C. Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions. She joined Cumberland in 2006 as adjunct faculty, transitioning to full-time in 2011. Her roles include Academic Area Leader and Program Director for the LPN to BSN track.
- Education: B.S.N. (Vanderbilt University), M.S.N. (Vanderbilt University), Ph.D. (University of Tennessee, Knoxville)
Her research focuses on cultural influences in pediatric healthy weight care. She has published in Journal of Pediatric Nursing, Nursing Research, and Journal of Transcultural Nursing.
- Global Experience: Operating room nurse (Boston Children’s Hospital), community health nurse (Mississippi), certified nurse midwife (England), mission nurse (Honduras)
Dr. Chatham co-developed the nursing professional ladder program at Nashville Metropolitan General Hospital and pioneered Cumberland’s LPN-to-BSN program. She chairs nursing course development, including Transcultural Nursing and Professional Nursing Concepts.

Her advising and grants include curriculum design and clinical education leadership. She currently oversees Cumberland’s LPN-to-BSN program, advancing nursing education accessibility.
