- M.S., Applied Mechanics, University of Virginia
- B.S., Engineering Science, Pennsylvania State University
Dr. Todd’s research centers on biomechanics, with applications in assistive technology, orthopedics, and soft tissue mechanics. She utilizes non-invasive imaging such as MRI to model the human body and extract geometric and inertial data. Her work includes finite element modeling, material characterization of adipose tissue, and developing tools that integrate imaging data into engineering analysis. She is also deeply engaged in engineering education, particularly in evaluating online learning and enhancing student career readiness.
Her research spans interdisciplinary domains including biomaterials, biomedical device design, solid mechanics, and fatigue and corrosion analysis. She has contributed to projects involving NASA-related student research, virtual reality in engineering education, and outreach programs to promote STEM among middle and high school students, especially girls.
Dr. Todd is a key supporter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UA, which has received multiple national awards under her mentorship. She has also been recognized through institutional features for her contributions to student development and engineering education innovation.
She has led and participated in initiatives such as the Campus Career Influencer Program, senior design projects with NASA applications, and public outreach events like 'WOW! That’s Engineering' for middle-school students. Her leadership extends to organizing regional engineering education conferences and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Todd is affiliated with several research centers at UA, including those focused on advanced manufacturing, sustainable infrastructure, and athletic and sport technology. Her work bridges mechanical engineering with real-world health and educational challenges, positioning her as a leader in applied biomechanics and pedagogical innovation.
