Federica Bessone is a Full Professor of Latin language and literature at the University of Turin’s Department of Humanities. She has held academic roles since 1993, including Visiting Fellowships at the University of Cambridge (2021–2022) and a Life Membership at Clare Hall, Cambridge (2022). Her research focuses on Augustan/Flavian culture, Latin poetry (Ovid, Statius), gender roles, and reception studies. She has supervised numerous PhD theses and co-edited major works like *The Literary Genres in the Flavian Age* (2017) and *Dalla Tebaide alla Commedia* (2022).
Education: PhD in Greek and Latin Philology (University of Pisa, 1994), Diploma in Humanities from Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) Pisa (1988). Editor for journals like *Rivista di Cultura Classica e Medioevale* and the *Oxford Commentaries on Flavian Poetry*. Co-founder of EuGeStA (European network on Gender Studies in Antiquity).
Awards include the NATO-CNR Senior Fellowship (1995) and the Fondazione Giorgio Pasquali Hardt Fellowship (1998). She organizes international conferences, chairs academic committees (e.g., BA Humanities Program at Turin), and contributes to critical editions of Statius’ *Thebaid*.
