Professor Beryl Exley is a full-time academic at Griffith University's School of Education and Professional Studies in Queensland, Australia. She serves as an AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) accreditation panel chair for Initial Teacher Education programs and is affiliated with the Griffith Institute for Educational Research.
Professor Exley's research focuses on critical issues in teacher education, literacy instruction, and educational equity. Her work examines the challenges facing initial teacher education programs, the impact of literacy policies, and strategies to reduce educational inequalities. She has particular expertise in phonics instruction, teacher retention, and the professional development of educators throughout their careers rather than just at the initial stage.
