Bertrand Garbinti

Bertrand Garbinti is an Assistant Professor and Senior Researcher at CREST - ENSAE - Institut Polytechnique Paris, where he teaches courses in Economics of Inequality, Econometrics, and contemporary economic methods. He serves as Programme Director for the Tax System Programme at the Institut des Politiques Publiques and maintains significant research affiliations across multiple institutions.

Garbinti earned his Ph.D. from the Paris School of Economics, his Accreditation to supervise research (HDR) from the Aix-Marseille School of Economics, and graduated from ENSAE. Prior to his current position, he worked as a researcher at the French National Statistical Institute (Insee), CREST, and the Bank of France, giving him substantial experience in both academic and policy-oriented research environments.

His research focuses on public economics, with particular expertise in income inequality, wealth taxation, and the economics of the family. Garbinti is currently investigating the effects of redistribution policies on income inequality, wealth taxation mechanisms, and intergenerational wealth mobility patterns. His work bridges theoretical economic models with empirical analyses of real-world data to inform policy decisions, often using sophisticated econometric approaches to uncover causal relationships in economic behavior.
