Berrak Sisman

Dr. Berrak Sisman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas). She leads the Speech & Machine Learning (SML) Lab, part of the Center for Robust Speech Systems (CRSS), focusing on cutting-edge neural models for speech synthesis and emotion analysis. Previously, she held faculty positions at Singapore University of Technology and Design (2020-2022) and was a postdoctoral researcher at National University of Singapore (2019-2020). She holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from NUS, funded by the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA).

Research Interests: Her work spans machine learning, speech synthesis, emotion analysis, and deep learning methodologies. She emphasizes inclusive and expressive speech synthesis, integrating audio-visual learning for advanced applications.

Lab & Collaborations: The SML Lab at UT Dallas develops neural models for speech processing. Recent projects include emotion-aware synthesis and voice conversion. Current PhD advisees include Aurosweta Mohanty, Shreeram Suresh Chandra, and Rasim Ulgen.
