Bernhard Wolfslehner

Bernhard Wolfslehner is a researcher at the Institute of Forest, Environmental and Resource Policy under the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. He has led the EFICEEC (European Forest Institute's Central-Eastern Europe Regional Office) since 2010, focusing on forest policy, sustainability indicators, and stakeholder engagement.

His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, stakeholder-driven policy analysis, and balancing ecological, economic, and social trade-offs in forest governance. He has contributed to international initiatives including the EU Forest Strategy and bioeconomy resilience studies.

He is actively involved in knowledge transfer, presenting at forums in 33 Austrian and 6 Belgian venues, among others, and has participated in projects related to forest ecosystem services, climate adaptation, and sustainable forest-wood chains.
