Bernhard Jakoby is a Full Professor for Microelectronics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, where he has served since 2005. He is the Head of the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsensors and has held various leadership positions including Chairman of the Scientific Staff Council since 2017 and Spokesperson of the Mechatronics Department. His academic career spans multiple institutions across Europe including guest professorships at the University of Bordeaux and previous faculty positions at the Vienna University of Technology.
Professor Jakoby's research interests focus on microelectronics and microsensor systems with particular emphasis on:
- Microsensor development and applications
- Industrial sensor systems
- Photonic sensing technologies
- Process analytical chemistry

- Ferroelectric materials and applications

He leads multiple funded research projects including 'Metasurface and Metamaterial Fabrication for Innovation in Science and Technology (META-FAB)' and 'Lightbow: Simulation und experimentelle Grundlagen für die modellbasierte Regelung in metallurgischen Lichtbogen-Plasma Prozessen.' His laboratory, the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsensors, serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research connecting electrical engineering, materials science, and industrial applications.
