Bernhard Dobberstein is a Professor and Research Group Head at the Centre for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) of the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg since 2004. He has held leadership roles including membership in the steering committees of SFB 638 and SFB 352, coordination of the DFG Graduiertenkolleg 230 "Molecular Cell Biology", and directorship of the ZMBH (1996–1997). His research focuses on protein translocation and targeting mechanisms, particularly the insertion of proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
