Prof. Bernd Page is a Professor and group leader in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hamburg, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (MIN). His work focuses on modeling, simulation, and environmental informatics with applications in logistics, business processes, and technology transfer.
Research activities include the development of the DESMO-J Java-based simulation framework, integration into the Eclipse platform, and projects like SystOp Offshore Wind (optimizing offshore wind farm systems), Emission Trade Assistant (EU emissions trading tool), and agent-based logistics modeling for urban courier services. He collaborates internationally, including with the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), and actively contributes to funded initiatives such as TIDE (environmental data tools), ZAP (zooplankton forecasting), and MOBILE (logistics-environment modeling).
- Key Projects:
- DESMO-J: Object-oriented simulation framework in Java
- SystOp Offshore Wind: Planning optimization for offshore wind farms
- Technology transfer via HiTEC initiatives
His work bridges academia and industry, with projects funded by BMBF, Volkswagen Foundation, and Hamburg Science Authority. He leads research groups and contributes to e-learning modules in applied computer science.
