Prof. Dr. Bernd Bodenmiller holds dual appointments as Professor at the University of Zurich (Department of Quantitative Biomedicine) and ETH Zurich (Institute of Molecular Health Sciences). He leads the Bodenmiller Lab, which pioneers single-cell analysis techniques including imaging mass cytometry to study tumor ecosystems and cancer progression.
Research focuses on:
- Developing experimental/computational methods for tumor ecosystem analysis
- Translational applications in precision oncology
- Mechanistic studies of cancer signaling networks
- Advancing multiplexed tissue imaging technology
Major scientific recognition includes the ERC Consolidator Grant for modeling tumor complexity. The lab maintains active collaborations with clinicians and pharmaceutical companies to develop diagnostic/therapeutic applications.
Current research team comprises 8 PhD students, 4 postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff. The group develops open-source computational tools including histoCAT, steinbock, cytomapper, and imcRtools for spatial single-cell data analysis.
