Bernardo Bortolotti is a Professor of Economics at the University of Turin and Unit Director of the Sovereign Investment Lab (SIL). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain. His research focuses on complex interactions between state and markets, particularly privatization, state-owned enterprises, regulation, and sovereign wealth funds. He has advised major institutions including the World Bank, the Italian Ministry of the Economy, and the Italian Audit Office. He founded the Privatization Barometer and served as Executive Director of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei.
His work appears in leading academic journals and includes two books with Oxford University Press. Key professional roles include membership in the Investment Committee of Compagnia di San Paolo and advisory roles for governments and corporations.
