Bernadette van den Hoogen

Dr. Bernadette van den Hoogen is Associate Professor of Virology at Erasmus Medical Center. Her research examines viral pathogenesis with emphasis on human metapneumovirus, Newcastle disease virus, and oncolytic virotherapy applications. She directs studies on host-pathogen interactions and therapeutic applications of engineered viruses.

Research programs investigate:

• Development of oncolytic viral vectors
• Interferon responses to viral infection
• Organoid models for respiratory infections
• Viral engineering for cancer therapy
