Berit Hildebrandt is a Lecturer (Privatdozentin) at Leibniz University Hannover's Faculty of Philosophy, affiliated with the Historical Seminar department. She maintains concurrent research positions, including her role as Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator at the University of Göttingen since April 2022 for the interdisciplinary project 'Revealing the Israeli Silk Road'. She has held visiting professorships at Humboldt University Berlin (2022/23) and University of Bremen (2021).
Her research focuses on intercultural exchanges along the Silk Roads, economic and social history of antiquity, and gender studies. Specializations include textile archaeology, trade networks, material culture analysis, and prestige economies in ancient Mediterranean societies.
Publications demonstrate strong thematic consistency in Silk Road trade dynamics, Roman textile economies, and material culture interpretation. Recent works (2022-2023) emphasize archaeological textile analysis from Israeli sites, while earlier scholarship establishes foundations in Roman luxury consumption and silk terminology.
