Berat Z. Haznedaroğlu

Berat Z. Haznedaroğlu is an Assistant Professor at Bogazici University's Institute of Environmental Sciences since 2014. His education includes postdoctoral training at Yale University and a Ph.D. from University of California-Riverside.

Research expertise spans environmental biotechnology, microalgae engineering, and sustainable bioprocess development. Current projects focus on microalgae applications for wastewater treatment, bioenergy production, and high-value compound extraction.

Publications demonstrate work on algae-bacteria consortia, microalgal metabolic engineering, and algal biomass processing. Recent book chapters cover wastewater bioremediation and industrial metabolite production from microalgae.

He leads major initiatives including the INDEPENDENT biorefinery project and MICRO-JET biofuel development. Additional research examines algal-based SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors and space life support systems.
