Benoît Ladoux

Professor Benoît Ladoux serves as Principal Investigator leading the Tissue Mechanobiology Division at the Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine, a joint research center of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. As a Humboldt Professor, he directs cutting-edge research at the physics-biology interface investigating how mechanical forces shape cellular and tissue behavior.

His research program focuses on mechanobiology, exploring how cells detect and respond to mechanical signals in physiological and pathological contexts. Key areas include collective cell migration, tissue homeostasis, cell extrusion mechanisms, cellular monolayers as active nematics, cell rheology, and mechanical aspects of cell competition.
