Benno Aalderink

Benno Aalderink serves as Associate Professor of Hydrogen Technology and Applications within the Sustainable Energy Systems research group at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, where he leads the Hydrogen Technology & Applications research line and has established extensive regional networks in applied hydrogen research.

His academic foundation includes a degree in Applied Physics from the University of Twente specializing in Systems and Control Engineering, followed by a PhD in laser welding technology from the university's Mechanical Engineering department.

Dr. Aalderink's research integrates hydrogen technology with sustainable energy systems, emphasizing electrolyzer development and mechatronic applications. Drawing from 15 years of industry experience at Demcon where he pioneered complex mechatronic systems across industrial, medical, and energy sectors, his work bridges theoretical innovation with practical implementation. Current efforts focus on advancing hydrogen applications through collaborative projects and Learning Communities in the eastern Netherlands.

He actively drives regional initiatives including the establishment of a dedicated hydrogen community in the eastern Netherlands, fostering partnerships between academic and industrial stakeholders to accelerate sustainable energy transitions.
