Bennet Schaber is a Professor in Cinema and Screen Studies at SUNY Oswego, holding a B.A. from Binghamton University and a Ph.D. from Brown University. He has held visiting positions at the University of Kairouan (Tunisia) and received fellowships from the Luce Foundation and NEH.
His research spans film theory, world cinema, and interdisciplinary intersections between visual media and cultural studies. Current interests include drone cinematography, Eugene O'Neill's screenwriting, and North African cinema. Recent publications analyze cinematic temporality, adaptation theory, and visual representations of social dislocation.
He teaches courses including World Cinema, Film Theory, Auteur Studies, and specialized seminars on experimental cinema. Current offerings include CSS 486 (World Cinema) and CSS 488 (Auteur Studies).
