Benjamin Pageaux

Benjamin Pageaux is a Professor at the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal. He is also a researcher and laboratory director at the Research Center of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM). His research focuses on neurophysiological mechanisms underlying effort perception, particularly in contexts involving pain, fatigue, and aging. Pageaux holds a PhD in sports science from the University of Kent and conducted postdoctoral research in France on electromyostimulation and eccentric cycling for rehabilitation.

Research Interests: Pageaux’s program has three axes: 1) mechanisms linking fatigue/pain to effort perception, 2) optimizing training/rehabilitation through these mechanisms, and 3) effort’s role in physical activity regulation. His work integrates kinesiology, neuroscience, and psychology.
