Dr. Benjamin Lawler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Automotive Engineering at Clemson University. His research focuses on improving the efficiency and emissions profile of internal combustion engines through advanced combustion strategies and alternative fuels. Dr. Lawler directs research on Low Temperature Combustion (LTC) techniques including HCCI, RCCI, and GCI applied to next-generation engine architectures.
Current projects investigate methanol combustion optimization, thermal barrier coatings for heat management, hydraulic hybrid systems, and engine electrification. His work explores sustainable pathways for transportation using renewable fuels like ethanol blends and methanol to achieve carbon-neutral operation.
Dr. Lawler's experimental and computational research aims to bridge fundamental combustion science with practical engineering applications. Recent publications examine combustion strategies for alcohol fuels, emissions control in transient operation, and thermal management approaches for high-efficiency engines.
