Benjamin Lang

Prof. Dr. Dr. Benjamin Lang is a Professor of Composition and Music Theory at the University of Music and Drama Rostock, serving as Rector since April 2023. He holds PhDs in Composition and Musicology, with studies at institutions including the Universities of Rostock, Salzburg, Hannover, Lugano, Bremen, and Edinburgh. His teaching focuses on Composition, Contemporary Music Analysis, and Pedagogy, alongside Artistic Research. His compositional work draws inspiration from archaeological excavations and natural phenomena, described as archaic and unorthodox in reviews. Performances of his works have occurred across Europe, the U.S., Bolivia, and beyond. Lang's compositions are exclusively published by Verlag Neue Musik Berlin.
