Benjamin Hung Yang Ong is a Lecturer and Head of the Research Group at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Technology IME CC Thermal Energy Systems and Process Engineering at Hochschule Luzern - Technik & Architektur (HSLU T&A). He holds a Ph.D. (Eng.) from the University of Waikato (2016-2019) and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham (2011-2015). His professional experience includes roles as Senior Researcher (2022-present), Research Associate (2020-2022), Teaching Assistant (2019), and Tutor (2016-2018).
His research focuses on Carbon Capture and Utilization, Thermal Energy Systems, Industrial Decarbonization, and Process Engineering Optimization. Key projects include Decarbonization of Swiss Industry through extended Eco-Targeting, Process Integrated Carbon Capture Design, and Solar Integration in Industrial Processes.
His publications emphasize multi-objective optimization for heat exchanger networks, energy profile characterization for industrial sectors, and integrated heat pump/thermal storage solutions. Recent work explores synergies between process simulation and ecological pinch analysis.
