Benjamin H. Scott is an Associate Professor of Marine Engineering at Webb Institute since 2020, previously serving as Assistant Professor (2016–2020) and Adjunct Professor in Nuclear Engineering (2010). He holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermodynamics) from George Washington University, and additional graduate studies in Fluid Mechanics/Acoustics (Catholic University of America) and Business Administration (University of Central Florida).
His research focuses on heat exchanger performance, thermal systems engineering, and fluid mechanics, with extensive contributions to ASME standards and EPRI guidelines. Key areas include heat exchanger fouling analysis, performance testing methodologies, and validation protocols. Professional roles include Vice-Chairman of the ASME PTC 12.5 Committee and leadership in EPRI’s Heat Exchanger Performance Users Group.
Non-academic experience spans over three decades, including senior roles at Exelon Nuclear Generation, Constellation Energy, and the U.S. Navy. He has instructed at Thermal Engineering Associates and the Naval Nuclear Power School. His work integrates academic research with industrial applications, emphasizing practical solutions for thermal and mechanical systems.
